Traditional Sofa Reupholstered, More Trees Saved!

We had recently been given the opportunity to reupholster this beautifully ornate sofa sets, revived it, giving it a new lease of life.

The seats cushions are the first to go. According to the owner, the original seat cushions had a slightly dome shape. It was worn and the replacements he got doesn't fit the configurations. It was flat. Foam paddings around the frame had also lost its density. The fabrics were threadbare and some of the paddings were exposed, causing even more tears to the upholstery.

But instead of simply discarding it, he chose to have us reupholster it. And we at Jazz it Up do not disappoint.  This is not the first time we work with him. We had previously reupholstered some dining chairs and a set of gliding rocker and ottoman for him. So we are indeed thankful to work with him again.

First we shortlist suitable fabrics for his selections.  Final fabric and trimmings chosen not only match the exquisite wood works, but must also be strong enough for everyday use. We stripped off the old foam paddings and replaced with new ones. Seats were replaced with high density foam and several layers of fibre ply, shaped to fit the original configuration.

And if you are wondering how long we take to reupholster these lots - we had it with us for two weeks. We always try to minimise turnaround time by carefully scheduling the pick up only when we are ready to work on it and when the new fabrics are available.

So please don't be too fast to write off your worn sofa and arm chairs. Give us an opportunity to reupholster it and save some trees at the same time!

And if you are still not convince, check out these before/after photos.

Notice how the old seats "sinked"in instead of being fuller and plushier.

Foam around the frame, especially those by the arms had loose its density.

We had also reupholstered these two wing chairs with a fabrics from the same collections, same dye lot but different motifs. This damask motifs fit well for wing chairs.

Master giving the final touch before wrapping it up.
