Sofa Reupholstered!

Image
Time and again we came across sofas that had seen much better days and being discarded by the owner. But most time, its just cosmetics damage. Frames and structures are still solid. There's no reason to just write it off as trash.  With some TLC from our skilled upholsterer, it can be restored to its former glory and be of good use for several more years.  Here's a good example of one that we recently have the honour to reupholster. It was a 2 piece leather sectional that had served the family well.  To be precise, for 13 years. Their children practically grew up on this sofa.. scratched marks, spills and shifted foams... no longer a pleasing sight to look at. it was left out at the porch while a brand new purchase took it place.  But the owner felt that despite that, it can be restored, reupholstered and put to use again as a second sofa in the house.  Here's the transformation...  The leather had peeled, exposing the fibre ply underneath.  The ...

Leather to Fabric

Image
Over the years, I've seen many leather upholstery peelings and cracking within a short period of time. Some even as fast as 2 years from purchase. This could be due to the humidity of our Singapore's weather.  Jazz it Up will be able to reupholster with leather. However, I often discourage, especially with the smaller items. Nothing against leather and I can still do it if that's what you really want.  It's just not very cost effective to do so.. Basically unlike fabric that can be purchased by the meterage, leather are sold by the hides. Literally, you buy the entire cow even though you only have a small chair.  And with each hide, only about 60% and if you are lucky,  80% of the hide are usable. Wastage are high and unavoidable.  Last but not least, I always find fabric, with its various textures, prints and colors more appealing.  This armchair is a good example.  Leather on seat are cracks and peels Big blue stripes in heavy...

Jazz it Up very first assignment

Image
Just remember  my very first assignment. Please excuse the bad resolutions cos at that time there was no iphone ;p This was taken more than 10 years ago. This Chesterfield sofa was bitten by a rottweiler.  Both owner and me felt that this is a dog with good taste for design cos the deep tufts of Chesterfield was never profound on a floral print. You don't see it! Ends result after we jazz it up definitely brings out the beauties of a Chesterfield!

DINING CHAIRS

These armchairs were upholstered using a contrasting color synthetic leather for the sides to give it a more vibrant looks.

Dining chairs - reupholstered

Image
Check out these beautiful dining chairs! The original leather does not hold up well in this weather. And so the owner has chose to reupholster it, giving it a new lease of life. What is more interesting is the combination of 2 different fabric for the 10 chairs that they have. Well coordinated and definitely added more interest to the dining room! Good choice mdm :p (u know who u are) Bold prints in a striking black & white 100% cotton. A definite attention grabber! Match with a very practical black & grey coudroy. Definitely children friendly!

Another Before & After Project.. this time it's from leather to fabric. My usual advice to clients, leather cost here are astronomical and it's always more cost effective to reupholster using fabric. Especially good strong chenille that will gives it body and look. Owner had a problem with their other puppy, (not this one in the photo). The little culprit went into hiding when I took this photo. Anyway, what happened, according to the client, whenever it's ball rolled under the couch, it would struggle to retrieve it, and even though too fat to squeeze under, it would end up scratching the upholsteries at the base. So our solution to it was to replace the legs with an entire wooden frame, blocking anything from rolling underneathe. *Check out the new look*
