Reupholster for a fresh look!

Image
On the same subject of Reupholster to Save Trees, Jazz it Up is once again very honoured to reupholster this same chair and long ottoman 3 times over the span of 15 years. Each time to keep up with the changing colour scheme and to coordinate with the new sofa the client had recently purchased.  I do not have photos of the original fabrics but I do remember it was a plain fabrics with no prints.  It was back in 2013 when she first approached us to reupholster these 2 pieces. Reupholstered in 2013 with this Chinoise print   More colours are needed. So in 2016 we had reupholstered with this lively turquoise geometric prints.  And once again, now in 2020, owner is on the move again. She has also acquired a new sofa in a cheerful turquoise blue.  But the chair and ottoman no longer match. Too much blues. We needed a fabric in a different tone but yet able to compliments the new sofa.  So with some careful considerations, she has settled for this woven pri...

Reupholstery Saves Trees

Image
Yes, Recycle, Reupholster and Reuse! This is one good reason why my esteemed clients had come back to me more than once to have the same sofas and chairs reupholstered with us. Over the years I had seen the same sofa or chairs reupholstered a second or even a third time over a span of 20 years. And with some nips and tucks, some new inserts and a new cover, the sofa is good as "new" and many trees saved! I applaud these clients for their efforts in keeping our Earth green and of course for their continuous support and trust in Jazz it Up. I am truly and very appreciative.  Here's some of the sofas and chairs that we have the honour to be given the chance to reupholster not once but twice and even thrice over the years.  We reupholstered this chair with the oceanic print 8 years ago. It was a refreshing change from the otherwise dull fabric before. However, wear and tear began to show.  Paint on arms had chipped. Foams on arms and seat worn. Time for a second make over....

BRING ON THE FLOWERS!

Image
It is not often that sofa, especially a big "L" shape is available in prints. What is available out there are the usual neutrals, the safe color. So even though this is a brand new sleeper from Ikea, my client still opt to JAZZ IT UP with bright floral prints. And the result, a stunning display of fresh floral blooms!  BEFORE - Sleeper in neutral  Fresh floral blooms against yellow wall  BEFORE - Old wing chair and ottoman that definitely in need of attention  AFTER - Need I say more?  If you love this collections, call Jann and ask for the "Italian Garden" and I will definitely bring the garden into your living room!  Please whatsapp photos of sofa & chairs that need a new lease of life to 97473298 or email to jazzitupbyjann@gmail.com and I will be able to give you a ball park quote.

OLD FRAME WITH NEW LOOK

Image
Remember the old teakwood frame that was so popular back in the 60s and 70s? Those with 3 separate seat & backrest cushions?  This is given a new sleek look with just one seat & one back cushions. Covers with pipings in a contrasting color.. Interested? Whatsapp photos to 97473298 for a free estimates. You can also email Jann at jazzitupbyjann@gmail.com

DYNAMICS IN STRIPES! NEED I SAY MORE?

Image
Made a statement in lime green & taupe stripes. All stripes may be too busy for six dining chairs together. So instead we added solid prints to the sides to tame it down a notch.  Need some stripes for your furnishing? Call Jann at 97473298 or simple email photos of your upholsteries to jazzitupbyjann@gmail.com for a ball park quote.  PS: I am on whatsapp too!

BLACK & WHITE

Image
BEFORE - Off white; definitely not children friendly and lack the "wow" factor AFTER - Charcoal grey accent with broad stripes to break the mono tone. Need some jazzing up as well? Email your photos and enquiry to jazzitupbyjann@gmail.com or whatsapp to Jann at 97473298 for a ball park quote.

Before & After

Image
Have not post a Before/After for a while.... but i think this is one worth showing..  Chair was kind of grubby and unwelcoming   The new look; fresher and much more inviting..the pillow gives a touch of color. Need some "jazzing up" as well? Whatsapp photos of your sofa or chairs to 97473298 or email me at jazzitupbyjann@gmail.com  for a ball park quote. Thank you!

Jazz it Up very first assignment

Image
Just remember  my very first assignment. Please excuse the bad resolutions cos at that time there was no iphone ;p This was taken more than 10 years ago. This Chesterfield sofa was bitten by a rottweiler.  Both owner and me felt that this is a dog with good taste for design cos the deep tufts of Chesterfield was never profound on a floral print. You don't see it! Ends result after we jazz it up definitely brings out the beauties of a Chesterfield!

BITEN BY A DOG :(

Image
Serious, this is the work of a dog.. a small one too ;p   Maybe doggie thinks that this chair needs some spicing up... Afterall its always safe and fun to add some prints to single occasional chair. New Retro Look..

A new, more cheerful look for a child's daybed.. and u don't even have to leave home for it!

Image
No kidding; you don't have to spend hours in a shopping mall to look for a new bed.  This sweet mummy gave me a call, requesting to "jazz up" an old daybed for her little boy.  I asked for a photo so that I can have a better idea of what we are talking about and gave a ball park quote. Next thing you know, I am on my way to their house with various samples and some borrowed color pencils from my new boy friend ;p One week later - Reupholster with durable, easy to clean synthetic leather most suitable for children's room. Contrasting color adds interest and livens up the room. We manage to "jazz it up"!

DINING CHAIRS

Image
These armchairs were upholstered using a contrasting color synthetic leather for the sides to give it a more vibrant looks.

And now The AFter...

Finally, the sequel to the inside story... Job Complete!

The Inside Story

Image
Have you ever wonder what goes inside your sofa? Why is it sinking and is it really value for your money? Here's a glimpse of the "inside story"... Story No 1 - Beneath the seat cushions This photo is taken off one of the sofa that we were assigned to reupholster. The webbing belt underneath the seat is responsible for the resilency and comfort of the sofa seat. A layer of foam is usually place over it. In this instance, the webbing belts are a bit too sparse and over time, the owner felt that the seat is sinking. To rectify the problem, we add a piece of material over the webbing belt before covering it back with the foam. This will gives additional support to the seat and eliminates the "sinking" feel that the owner has. Story No 2: Back of Sofa This is what we found when we stripped down this sofa. Or rather, what we cannot find. Back of frame is just like that - BARE. The sofa fabric is just stapled onto the wooden frame along it's per...

Dining chairs - reupholstered

Image
Check out these beautiful dining chairs! The original leather does not hold up well in this weather. And so the owner has chose to reupholster it, giving it a new lease of life. What is more interesting is the combination of 2 different fabric for the 10 chairs that they have. Well coordinated and definitely added more interest to the dining room! Good choice mdm :p (u know who u are) Bold prints in a striking black & white 100% cotton. A definite attention grabber! Match with a very practical black & grey coudroy. Definitely children friendly!

Mega Transformation!

Image
Check this out! From water hyacinth frame to fully upholstered sofa! Foams were placed over the arm to "smoothen out" the irregularities and wala! a mega transformation! BEFORE - Arms were prickly and not comfortable to lean on. Settee were too casual, more for outdoor patio use. AFTER - Need I say more? Sleek and Stylish ;p All Jazzed Up!!

Compliments that make my day ;p

Allow me to brag and share ;p But I just want YOU to know that I really appreciate all your compliments and it's awesome that we've successfully Jazz Up your upholstery and given it a new lease of life. It surely makes my day! I want to say a special Thank You to Amy Watson, Kaye Mummery and Linda Black whose upholstery I've just reupholstered. Would love to go by to take some photos so that I can share it here. Especially yours, Linda, that's a big transformation.... from water hyacinth to fully upholstered! Kaye and Amy, a big Thank You for trusting us with your antique piece! Enjoy it for many years to come ;p

Remember my earlier post, this is another example of an armchair that had undergone a complete "Jazz it Up" makeover. Cannot even recognise it right?
